Product Description

Belt conveyor

Belt conveyors are mechanical devices that rely on friction drive for continuous material transportation. They primarily consist of a frame, conveyor belt, idlers, drums, tensioning devices, and drive units. Suitable for conveying powdered, granular, small lump materials, and bagged goods weighing under 100 kg, with material temperatures below 60°C. Operating in environments ranging from -20°C to +40°C, it finds extensive application in mining, power plants, ports, electronics, food processing, chemical, and light industries. This equipment is categorized into heavy-duty belt conveyors (e.g., mining conveyors) and light-duty belt conveyors. It employs multiple control modes including continuous operation, intermittent operation, or variable-speed operation. The conveyor line can be configured in straight, curved, or inclined forms.

The drive system includes single-drum, double-drum, and multi-drum configurations, with surface options of smooth steel, rubber-coated, or ceramic materials. Self-aligning idler assemblies prevent belt deviation, while tensioning devices include screw-type, trolley-type, vertical-type, and other configurations. Conveyor belts are available in PVC, PU, or rubber materials, featuring flame-retardant, anti-static solid-core PVG/PVC belts or steel-cord belts. Drive options include gear motors or electric drums, with frame materials covering powder-coated carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum profiles. Telescopic models incorporate belt storage compartme

nts to accommodate expansion requirements in coal mining tunnels or tunnel excavation, offering long conveying distances with simple, maintenance-friendly structures.

Working Principle

A belt conveyor primarily consists of two end rollers and a closed conveyor belt tightly fitted around them. The roller that drives the belt rotation is called the drive roller (or transmission roller); The other drum, solely responsible for altering the belt's direction of travel, is called the idler drum. The drive drum is powered by an electric motor via a reducer, and the conveyor belt is driven by the friction between the drive drum and the belt. The drive drum is typically installed at the discharge end to increase traction force and facilitate movement. Materials are fed into the conveyor at the feed end, where they fall onto the rotating belt. They are then transported to the discharge end by the friction of the conveyor belt and unloaded there.

Product Features

Belt conveyors represent the most ideal high-efficiency continuous transportation equipment for coal mines. Compared to other transport systems (such as locomotives), they offer advantages including extended conveying distances, large transport capacity, and continuous operation. Additionally, they feature reliable performance and facilitate automation and centralized control. Particularly for high-yield, high-efficiency mines, belt conveyors have become the cornerstone equipment in coal mining's mechatronic technology and machinery.

The primary characteristic of belt conveyors is their easily extendable and retractable frame, featuring a belt storage compartment. The tail section can lengthen or shorten as the coal face advances. Their compact structure allows installation directly on the roadway floor without requiring foundations. The lightweight frame facilitates simple disassembly and assembly. For higher conveying capacities and longer distances, intermediate drive units can be added to meet requirements. Depending on conveying requirements, they can operate as single units or be combined into horizontal or inclined transport systems for material handling.

Product Advantages

First and foremost is its reliable operation. Belt conveyors are employed in numerous critical production units requiring continuous operation, such as coal transportation in power plants, bulk material handling in steel mills and cement plants, and ship loading/unloading operations within ports. Downtime in these settings would result in substantial losses. When necessary, belt conveyors can operate continuously, shift after shift.

Belt conveyors exhibit low power consumption. Minimal relative movement between material and belt results in reduced operational resistance (approximately 1/3 to 1/5 that of scraper conveyors), less wear and breakage of cargo, and higher productivity. These factors collectively contribute to lower production costs.

Belt conveyors offer strong adaptability and flexibility in route design. Line lengths can be customized as needed, ranging from a few meters to over 10 kilometers. They can be installed within small tunnels or elevated above areas with chaotic or hazardous ground traffic.

Belt conveyors can retrieve materials from tunnels beneath stockpiles in coal storage yards and, when required, blend different materials from separate piles. Materials can be simply discharged at the conveyor head or unloaded at any point along the belt's length using plow-type unloaders or mobile unloading vehicles.
